The Collegiate Image
New Exhibit in MillsImage: Sheet Music, Wisconsin Sue

Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis, Pat Boone, Fred Astaire, Ginger Rodgers, Rudy Vallee, Ella Fitzgerald and many others can all bespotted in a new exhibit called The Collegiate Image, 1900-1960: Icons and Images in Music Covers and Memorabilia. The colorful and casual assortment of collegiate songs and realia is grouped by decade anduses reproductions of song sheet covers, photographs, books and record albums to show what collegians craved at various epochs. It is also an iconographic overview of what the movie and music publishing businesses believed represented collegians. Particular focus is, of course, centered on the University of Wisconsin, though the college population throughout the country is represented.

Colin Cameron, a volunteer in the Music Library nd SLIS graduate, guest curated the exhibit which will continue through the end of the semester.
