UW-Madison LibrariesUW–Madison's libraries are ranked eleventh among research libraries in the North America, according to a survey by the Association of Research Libraries in 2002–2003. Memorial Library, the largest library in Wisconsin, and more than forty General Library System professional and special-purpose libraries hold more than 7.2 million volumes, fifty-eight thousand serial titles, and 6.7 million microforms. More than one million volumes are circulated every year. Library users can also search more than 650 databases containing hundreds of millions of citations. Last year patrons made more than twelve million requests online from the libraries’ web site, catalog, and databases. Nearly five million people visited the campus libraries last year, and nearly twenty-seven thousand students and staff attended library instruction programs. |
