NEW SYSTEM

Voyageur, the library system developed by Endeavor Information Systems of Des Plaines, Illinois, has been selected for all University of Wisconsin campuses. Although a contract has not yet been negotiated and signed, it seems likely Voyageur will replace aging systems in libraries around the state in the near future. Implementation is scheduled to begin at UW-Madison this fall, and the system will be operational in about a year.

Voyageur is an integrated library system which employs a web-based public catalog and manages both staff and patron functions such as acquisitions, circulation, and reserves. Endeavor boasts of providing the system-of-choice for over 250 libraries world wide. Those anxious to take a test drive can go to Endeavor's home page to find a list of all their library sites. some with links. One of the interesting Voyageur sites for musicians to visit is the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester.
