Effective 5 September, photocopy charges increased to ten cents per page at campus libraries. The charge for laser prints will remain the same at seven cents per page.
As campus libraries provide more resources online for users, the volume of photocopying has steadily declined. This downward trend is expected to continue with the expansion of library licensing of books, journals, and reference resources in digital format. At the same time, all of the costs related to photocopy services have increased.
This is the library's first price increase in six years. Most libraries in the UW System have already responded to the pressure of rising costs by increasing the price to ten cents, and the ten-cent price for photocopying has been a standard in most public libraries for years.
