  • The Center for Popular Music

    The Center for Popular Music, founded at Middle Tennessee State University in 1985, is an archive and research center devoted to the study of American popular music from the pre-revolutionary era to the present. The Center's mission is to promote research and scholarship in American vernacular music, and to foster an understanding and appreciation of American's diverse musical culture.

    The Centre for Popular Music Research, founded in 1983 at Humboldt University in Berlin, was the first institution of its kind. From the beginning, its mission was to explore the various forms of popular music through research and teaching. The Center has an interdisciplinary bent, welcoming students and researchers from all relevant fields in support of their research projects.
